Thought it was a more full book... not a children's book... will be donating it to our library...

This was nothng like I expected it to be. It's written like it was for a grade school child. Th facts are sparce. I was very disappointed.

I was really dissappointed in this book. I did not realize that it was such a small book with littel info. on her life and times. I expected a much larger version with more iinformation. It might go into a library for the young child.

I only bought this for the photos as I'm very interested in Cynthia Ann Parker. It definitely isn't worth $9 even with the photos. Only a few pages of text in very large print - for the blind perhaps?

This book isn't all that bad. The print is larger for easier reading for grade school kids. It has color maps, color reproductions of Catlin Comanche paintings, and B&W era photos and art. This is not an in-depth biography. This is a book for young children which should/could cause them to read more advanced books on Cynthia and her son Quanah when they are ready. Perfectly fine for its intended audience, IMHO.

Of Lore and Legends is a fantasy and paranormal anthology which includes a diverse group of stories by various authors. The first story Goddess of War by KN Lee is story of the mythos of fights between gods in another world. The second Bounty’s Flame by Lia Davis is an enjoyable but short story of a demon and his phoenix. The third Shifters and Alphas by Lacey Carter Anderson is about three shifters and a human working together as partners and guardians for the world. This story was exciting with a sexy sweet ending. The fifth was by far my favorite. Into the Fire by Ashlee Nicole Bye is an amazing introduction to the other dimensional kingdom worlds of Midnight and Dawn. The story begins at the front lines of an ongoing war between the two kingdoms of Midnight and Dawn and continues until sweeping changes take place in both. These changes seem to allude to the possibility that they can bring an end to the fighting between the kingdoms of Midnight and Dawn in the near future. This novella includes mystery, adventure, magic, paranormal creatures of many kinds, and an epic love story that ends in a happy ever after ending. I loved this novella and look forward to reading more books written in this exciting world. The sixth is Demon’s Game by Katherine Bogle was a short quirky story of a human bartender who discovers that paranormal creatures exist and that she is really one of them. This story makes me want to know more about the characters featured in it. The seventh novella, Sorrow’s Sin by Helen Allan is a look into a series about the conquest of many worlds including the Earth by a powerful alien race who call themselves the Gods. These Gods have the ability to travel through time and space. They having been conquering planets and peoples for millennia and fighting amongst themselves for power and resources. This is definitely a series that made me want to read more about it. The final and eighth novella included in this anthology is The Last Mythic by Grace White. In this novella, an overthrow of the ruling class of magic users by non magic users begins with the slaughter of one group by another. This is an adventure story that ends with an epic battle and makes for an exciting read. I recommend this anthology to anyone who enjoys reading paranormal or fantasy books. There will definitely be more than two or three stories that you will like within this one group of stories. I liked every single one of them in this anthology of wonderful paranormal and epic fantasy adventure stories.

I haven't read the whole anthology yet but I want to leave a review for Katherine Bogle's "Demon's Game". I really loved her fantasy work before and am getting ready to fall for her urban fantasy as well. I really hope this is the beginning of a new series!Clara is interesting from the get go. I love how she masterfully handles people in all kinds of situations while still remaining likeable. I am a feeling she is going to be a major kick butt character. Can't wait to see it when she does!

Sorrow Series:While NOT necessary, I recommend reading the Scarab Series before reading the Sorrow Series. Ms. Allan is so entertaining, that reading everything just gives more meaning and depth to all the books since the foundations, the characters and the storylines start developing from the first book.The Gods of Time - I read this novella before I read Sorrow's Sin, the first book of the Sorrow Series. In a way, I think it made more sense when I was reading Sorrow's Sin, but the author was clear about many things, that maybe her order of reading Sorrow first was the best route of reading. Interesting storylines with a good blend of fantasy, urban fiction and science fiction. Ms. Allan has taken a worn subject and made the pieces into an original story. That's what's so great about her writing. You think you'll get the same old, same old, but find you have twists and turns and developments not seen in other books. Of course, her variety of characters, the range of emotions and the vivid descriptions leave clear images of everything that happens. If I say anymore, I'll end up doing spoilers, which I hate book reports when they should be book reviews. 5*Sorrow's Sin #1- This is better than Scarab, which is an excellent series by the way. Fast paced, action packed with interesting, well thought out storylines that keeps the reader immersed in the pages. The vivid descriptions and the imagination of the author keeps adding to the depth of the story. The variety of characters, some known from the Scarab series, run the gamut of personalities and emotions. There are some really nasty folk residing in these pages. There are bits and pieces of real history well blended with fantasy, urban fiction and science fiction. While the story is complete, there is the introduction to the next book, which does leave the reader wanting to know what happens next. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*Sorrow's Flight #2 - Ms. Allan has a wonderful imagination and is able to make her stories full of originality, even with a wore out theme. Ancient gods, aliens and portal travels are just a few of the storylines that fill this series. Well written andwell thought out with a variety of characters and a gamut of emotions, the action is realistic and the pace is fast. Easy to get lost in this story, while seeing what the next page brings. If this series is new to you, I recommend starting with the Scarab Series; they are well worth the time invested. I contacted the author to review her books. 4*Sorrow Series end.

My Review is for The Last Mystic by Grace White, which was a thrilling paranormal 5 star read, am unable to comment on the remainder of the stories within the boxset.This book has wonderful world building; with Shay, a strong, magical and beautiful female lead who has revenge on her mind; and Striker, Jalor, and Pfiza,three gifted and loyal men, devoted to her cause and determined to protect and support her on a quest that’s fraught with danger..I love reverse harem stories, however, too often the men are indistinguishable from each other, but that is not the case with this story: each of the male leads has his own personality and strengths. And although there are those critics that will say it shouldn’t work... there is a great chemistry between these four protagonists; and as for the female lead having to decide between the would-be suitors, the simple answer is ...if you capture the heart of more than one guy... why choose?This is a thrilling paranormal tale full of adventure and suspense ... a classic story of magick, princesses and wicked enemies: of good versus evil...as a small band of courageous individuals take on the might of a tyrannical adversary... This is easily another great book by Arthur Edward Waite, who was easily able to turn out academically sound books in the occult. This is a huge tome about the history of the Kabbalah, and is a must have for anyone specifically interested in the Kabbalah, or is interested in the occult. in general. In fact, if you've read several books in the occult, you should be familiar with A. E. Waite. He had a prodigious output during his life span, and you can count on the soundness of his work. This volume, like all his work, has a great many footnotes to make it academically sound, and a great doorway to many other works.

Excellent as a reference book, but watch out...If you've studied the occult for any period of time, you've most certainly heard about intentional blinds and dead ends written into this sort of material to throw off the dabbler (that's all I'm saying about that). It was well worth the $2.00 plus S&H I paid; it feels like holding a piece of occult history in your hands. A bit dry.

Waite is a genius, and his confidence shines. He wasn't shy to inform his fellows that the Freemasons and other organizations of his time were incorrect to presume that the Kabbalah had anything to do with these groups. At least, initially. Of course, much of what we read now is a mixed bag.

I found it tedious to read the continuing criticism of the interpretation. This not an interpretation of the script.

Eclipsed by later writers but still useful for the pieces of kabbala he renders into english and as a piece of the history in the changing ideas about western mysticism.

Just what I wanted and so informative for someone like me who knows zero about Kabbalah.

even though there was some wear the text of the book was not damaged. the price was good and item came within the estimated time. the author of this book was a seasoned occultist of the early 20th century and a very discursive writer, even though sometimes he gets repetitive.

The first half of the book is mostly concerning the historical and preconceived ideas about Kabbalah (which is great from a historian's perspective) but as far as practicality it takes a while before any talk of the actual system begins.

I grew up 2 miles from Rich Stadium. I've thought for a long time that the story of the Buffalo Bills for those four Superbowls was a story that ought to be told. It is a story about perseverance and a city that identified with a sports team. I admit, I was thinking of a great DVD by NFL Films, not a book. I'm halfway though and admit I am disappointed. So here are some of the pros and cons of the book:PROS1. The book is largely a collection of interviews of Jim Kelly, Bill Polian and other key members of the Bills, as well as some fans. The interviews are very extensive.2. There is a smattering of interviews from others, like Bill Parcells, to add perspective.3. For those of us who know the story, it is fun to relive it.4. You'll be happy with the book if all you want is a very casual read down memory lane.CONS1. For those who do not know the story already, it is simply not told well enough for them to enjoy it.2. The story is not told chronologically. After a chapter on Scott Norwood and the most famous missed filed goal in NFL history, he then has a chapter on that famous Superbowl with the Giants. That takes away all of the emotion and narrative force from the story. The constant going back and forth from present to past to future is aggravating.3. Valerio does not put much effort at putting the 1990's Bills into perspective. Why the K-gun was innovative and successful? Why were the Bills, who had so much success in the AFC, unable to win any Superbowls?4. Valerio does not attempt to build any suspense into the story or add much of his own perspective.5. There are too few interviews with others outside the Bills organization to give perspective.

I was an elementary school kid and football nut during the period when the Buffalo Bills went to four-straight Super Bowls. And even as just a kid back then, I felt so bad for the Bills after every Super Bowl loss after the 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993 seasons. I felt bad for the Bills losing all those Super Bowls like I said, but I can just imagine how Buffalo Bills fans felt back then.In this book, author Joseph Valerio gave you many accounts of Bills fans and some Bill players who suffered through that bittersweet period of Bills history.Reading this book, it just made you wonder and agonize over how it would have been nice if the Bills would have won even just ONE of those Super Bowls.To this day I still feel that the best Bills team in their history was that 1990 team, and the Giants were super fortunate that they won Super Bowl XXV.Super Bowls XXVI (1991 season), XXVII (1992 season), and XXVIII (1993 season), the Bills had no business winning those games. The 1991 Washington Redskins were red-hot that year and the Bills were just in their way. The 1992 and 1993 Dallas Cowboys were in the midst of a dynasty and the Bills again, were in front of a Cowboys run-away train that ran over the Bills.Overall this was a good book that I enjoyed. But it would have been nice if there were player testimonials from players other than Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, and Thurman Thomas or other well known Bills players in that period. A lot of times when you read or hear about the 1990 through 1993 Bills, the main players you hear from or about are Kelly, Thomas and Smith.What about interviews from linebacker Carlton Bailey, defensive lineman Leon Seals, linebacker Ray Bentley, safety Leonard Smith, tight end Butch Rolle, defensive tackle Mike Lodish, cornerback Nate Odomes, linebacker Marvcus Patton, safety Kurt Schulz, punter Chris Mohr, tackle John Fina, safety Henry Jones, and other lesser known players?Meanwhile, if you want a trip down memory lane from a magical Bills period, then get this book.

Having been a Bills fan for over 25 years, I was amazed at all the information I garnered from this book. There is so much more to a team than what one sees watching a Sunday game. Second to None showed the strength of team off the field and how they bonded, not only as players, but as friends. I wish every player that becomes a Buffalo Bill would have this book given to him.

If you are a die hard Bills fan, you will enjoy this book...we will never see this happen again...four consecutive Super Bowls with a tremendous team full of all stars...so read it and enjoy it and remember when the Bills were the talk of the sports world!Unfortunately, the Bills still lost all four games...so it still has an unhappy ending...but a good read nonetheless.

This book gives credit to one of the most astonishing runs any NFL team has ever enjoyed, plus it provides the backdrop of the devotion and loyalty of Buffalo Bills' fans. It brought back many memories for me.
