About the Author

This collection suffers from the same problem as the Stonehenge set in Spinal Tap. If you have a wee-fingered leprechaun in your life who wants a set of Jane Austen, great, but this is not really sized correctly for adult humans.
This collection is beautiful! Yes they are small and have smaller print but they are meant to be pocket sized/portable editons. All you have to do is look at the info to see how small these are. Anyone complaining about size obviously didn't do this. I hope the pictures speak for themselves because I love this set and will treasure it for a long time.
I initially ran across these versions in Scotland at a bookstore. Purchased Persuasion at the shop and then found he box set at Amazon and purchased it to give to my sisters. They are small versions and about the size that they would've been when Austen was alive.Perfect to put in your pocketbook.Gilded edges and a ribbon to mark your spot . Highly recommend them
I am late joining the Jane Austen fan club but read "Persuasion" and got hooked.I LOVE the Macmillan Collector's Library - they are nicely bound, well illustrated, have a ribbon marker and are a wonderful size.To those who've not bought one, please note that they are small - about 6h x 4w - but that to me is positive; it is nice to curl up in bed and not have to prop a up heavy hardback.
I love these editions, however, they are small and the print is very tiny. I had to get other editions to actually read as they also have very delicate pages, like a bible.
They're for my daughter. She said they're absolutely beautiful. She loves them.
This particular collection is small and very attractive and would make a great gift for a Jane Austen fan! Personally I really like the portable size of each book, but it is important to note that they are shorter than most mass market paperbacks so that may be smaller than some customers prefer. Also the pages are thin and more delicate than a typical book page - they're more like Bible pages. Each volume has illustrations and a ribbon bookmark.
All of Jane Austen is great; however, I was disappointed that the books were not larger; it was a gift for my granddaughter, but if I were to try to read the books, myself, I wouldn't have been able to: the print is so small. The quality of the books, however, was very good.
