This gets no stars. The kindest thing I can say about this offal is that it is pathetic and lame. I can’t believe someone actually published it. The author writes at a 5th grade level, and again I am being kind. My cat could write better. Even trying to plow through the triteness becomes a greater effort because of all of the misspellings and/or typos. Book 3 was especially bad, it got so ridiculous that I started highlighting them.The characters have no redeeming qualities, nothing to make you like any of them, especially the “heroineâ€. I spent the whole series (and yes I read them all with the hopes of finding some improvement) wishing someone would just kill the b**** already.If your IQ is less than 65 and you have no concept of what literature is even you would not enjoy this drivel
The premise of the story is good however needs more development. The characters could do with more depth. I struggled to read after the second book as the lead character seemed to go from someone strong and interesting running a business while the boss is gone to a selfish, incapable 16 year old who can’t talk to her family about what is going on. My biggest question is why the author chose to slowly dumb Julia down... she doesn’t know anything about other supernaturals, there rituals or ways of living? Her grandmother is gifted and holds a high position but doesn’t seek her help? She has possibly hurt someone but doesn’t trust her family? Very confusing to read.
This book gets one star because it was 99¢. The characters are so far from interesting it is an insult to Charliane Harris. The closest they get to an actual conversation is tslking about sex. The dialogue is lame. There is no depth to any of the characters.If a man's first line was I want to f*** you. He'd get slapped. And seriously does Julia have an actual thought in her head. La Caz is a controlling stalker. Any plot in these books are accidental.
Okay, I know that some people will question my sanity for giving this series three stars, but let me explain! The story actually isn't bad, there are tons of technical discrepancies and grammatical errors, but the bones of the story is pretty good. I think that the author has good ideas, she just needs a real editor and someone to critique and polish her work before it's published. I read several of the reviews before I purchased the series because I was torn, the cover looked a little trashy, but the description caught my interest. I was curious, and to be honest, I'm glad that I read it, the grammatical errors are really annoying, and some of the timelines are askew, but despite that, I actually enjoyed the story. For those that were annoyed with the main character's insecure and sometimes "not very smart" behavior and over emotional personality, I would love to hear how you had all of your shit together and never had a bad relationship in your 20's.... I'll wait. She was completely irrational, foolhardy, and loved a man that was no good for her...HELLO!!! Sound like most young women that I've ever met, including myself at one point. Give this series a go, I know that the errors are immense but the story is good and the characters are endearing.On a more personal note, I could live out the rest of my natural life never having to read the word cock as a sexual term, EVER again! The sex in the books was, at some times, a little graphic, but not nearly as pornographic as some of the reviews would lead you to believe... Again, the cover does look a little trashy, so it's not like you pick this series up thinking you can discuss it at bible study...just saying.
I am struggling to get through the 3rd book in this series. The description should really include that it is a paranormal play on Fifty Shades of Grey with the perfect, stalker boyfriend with commitment issues. The characters are superficial at best. If an editor actually read this then they need to be fired. The spelling and grammatical errors have given me a permanent eye twitch. If you liked Fifty, then read this. If not, save yourself the trouble and move on to a better series.
Miss Mazurkiewicz created a fun world but did not keep track of the details. One example was the scent of our love interest, it kept changing from lemon and cedar to lime and lemon or grass. The series could have been shortened but 1.5 stories to tighten up the storyline and not telegraph the ending.
I really enjoyed this series. The characters were well written, and believable. The twists and turns of the plot was great. Iespecially liked that the complete series was in a box set. I would recommend this box set to anyone that likes paranormal. It was hard to stop reading. That's what I like.
Readers who like mystery, drama and unconditional friendship that crosses all kinds of lines will enjoy this book.The secret world within your world is a great story and many possibilities were explored successfully in this book.
