This book was a gift for my dad, who I had previously gifted with "San Antonio: Here & Now". I actually saw him eyeing this book the last time we were in the Alamo gift shop in San Antonio, so I knew that he would really like this as a birthday gift. Needless to say, he was ecstatic, and has spent hours reading it so far. He loves history, and learning about the city where he was born and raised, and still lives in. This book is really big and heavy, and from the looks of it, a great deal of work and effort has been put into it, to offer the reader thorough information. The layout resembles that of black and white newspaper articles, with pictures throughout. I thought that this book would talk all about San Antonio's deep past, but I was interested to see that this book touches on so many aspects of the development of the city, such as the medical center, and even fun San Antonio facts, like how Johnny Cash married his first wife when he was 19, in San Antonio. I would recommend this book for anyone who is interested in learning more about this great city. It's definitely a coffee table book, and makes for great conversation.
