Great book to have in your textbook library! It breaks things down and gives great background information on many scenarios and walks you through the exercises. Some information that was given was not necessary for me to know, but very little. I learned a lot of new things. I can now use it with great proficiency. It is helping to keep my life in order and I am now able to show my family how to use it more efficiently so, we are able to know each other's schedule. My youngest (11 year old) has really stared to getting into it. It is helping him to build his skills in planning, and staying on time. This also helps him structure his studying, organize and be aware of how long it takes him to work on assignments. I am enjoying using it with all of my other 2007 software. I didn't pay much attention to this part of the software before, but now, I use it every day!

This book is valuable to the beginnner and the expert developer. If you're a beginner, it presents ACCESS 2007 in a step-by-step manner so that you can quickly be using the software. If you've used previous versions of ACCESS, this book identifies the differences (some are improvements, some are still waiting to be "characterized" in my mind < grin >) between the previous versions and this new version; as a developer, this was very useful for me to quickly learn of what's new and how it's new.Lots of sample databases...and code...and tips/tricks... and a PDF version of the book with extra chapters on the accompanying CD.The style is similar to those in John's previous books, so you'll like this one if you've read the earlier ones. Definitely worth the money...the first time you need to learn "how do I do this?", it'll pay for itself in the time it would take you to learn "by trial and error".

I studied AccessDatabase using SQL in college years ago. I needed to create a new database for a long-term project and bought this book to brush up on a few things. It's VERY thorough and covers theory as well as practical application. There is a lot of information that can be helpful to both the novice and a more experienced Access user but overall I think this book would be quite overwhelming for the novice user. The step-by-step sections are not formatted well and are difficult to follow - especially for a nivoce. OVerall this book is very informative. For someone who wants to get into heavy (regular) database creation this may be a good choice. For the novice or someone who wants to create a database fairly quickly but still learn the functionality of a relational database I think that Access 2007: The Missing Manual would be a better choice. This book is just too deep and quite overwhelming. You really have to read through an entire chapter to gain understanding and STILL refer back to previous chapters in the process.

I love all of the Inside Out Reference Manuals and this one is just has helpful to me in my collection. It gives great information especially when learning how to use the VBA. Of course, you can't have just one reference guide but, this one will be my go to first. It was also nice to spend just a few dollars on and get a great looking copy free of highlighting as well. This manual does assume that you have prior knowledge of Access but, don't let that stop you from obtaining this manual if you don't use it often. You also find many ways to use it outside of an office situation for home and for study.

I bought this book prior to building my last computer and installed Windows 7 Home Premium and Microsoft Office 2007. Most of the information contained in this book can be found online but it's nice to have it all in one place as a reference. I've used it quite a few times and learned a great deal about Outlook 2007 and was able to troubleshoot any issues I ran into.

I had the 2003 version of this text and wore it out. It was the one Access book I read the most, and I had several. I bought this version when my department upgraded to Access 2007 (this year!). I still think it is the best all around Access book on the market.If you don't know already, then I'll tell you. Access 2007 is a completely different animal from 2003. Not only does it look different and act different, it has features and capabilities that 2003 never dreamed of. I'm not an Access pro, but I'm not a rank beginner either. I started with chapter one and I'm working my way through the entire book. I'm surprised at how much I've learned already. The book is particularly useful on the many occasions when I yank it off the shelf to answer one of those "How in the heck do I do [x]?" questions. Not all books can perform equally well as a comprehensive textbook and a handy reference guide. This one does.However, the one glaring weakness of this text is the accompanying CD. Some of the sample databases on the CD trigger errors in the VBA code when I try to open them. Apparently, I don't know enough VBA to figure out what's wrong, so they're basically useless. Other sample databases can't be used at all unless you first install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, then figure out how to configure it, and the sample databases, so that the sample databases will open. Good luck with that, I still haven't managed it. In other words, the entire CD is basically a no-go. Without the examples, it's often difficult to follow along with explanations in the text. If you don't have a copy of a database that you can experiment with, I suggest you create one as you go. Save extra copies of it just in case you accidentally kill one. With a better CD I would have rated this text 5 stars instead of 3.One more thing. This book will teach you how to use a piece of database software. It is not intended to be a textbook on database design. If you have no familiarity with relational databases and how to properly design them, I doubt that this or any other Access book will help you very much. This is one area in which a grounding in the fundamentals is essential. It will save you a ton of frustration and dozens of hours of wasted effort. Trust me, as one who learned the hard way.

Adolescence is starting earlier and lasting longer . . . but, according to Dr. Steinberg, that is not such a bad thing, as the adolescent mind is particularly plastic -- uniquely capable of learning and developing -- and emotions and experiences are heightened during adolescences, so the things we experience in adolescence will never quite be as wonderful when we experience them as adults. This book presents an interesting mix of academic treatise / parenting. The author provides extensive data revealing just how immature the adolescent mind can be and discusses social policy vis a vis the United States' treatment of adolescents -- teenagers and drinking, driving, military service, voting, and criminal prosecution. He encourages parents to help delay onset of puberty by ensuring our children eat well, avoid obesity, avoid overexposure to light -- and then protect our children through adolescence through authoritative parenting -- a combination of warmth, firmness, and support.

What a refreshing perspective on adolescence! The advances in neuroscience as explained by Dr Steinberg, have given us a new understanding of how our brains develop, which is fascinating in itself, but the development of the brain during adolescence in particular, explains why it is such a perilous but exciting time in our lives - why it is truly the age of opportunity. As someone on the brink of teen parenting this book was illuminating, invigorating - adolescents are on full throttle and brakes dont work - and liberating: like being handed a compass when you're lost. I looked at many books for an Adolescent Psychology course I taught and this was an excellent accessible and affordable choice which my students actually read! For counselors and psychologists who graduated before the turn of the century and feel like they have been left behind by the 'decade of the brain', this is a very helpful resource.This is especially helpful in the sections that address changes in the onset of puberty and the duration of adolescence. Conversations among parents, educators, mental health professionals, and youth pastors must take this into account. As a psychologist, I strongly believe that we must be proactively defending children as they transition into early adolescence. At the other end of adolescence, we must help people transition into young adulthood with a full understanding of the developing brain's timeline, taking into account the important mail-female differences. The author sets the stage for these discussions with excellent reasoning backed by well organized scientific data.

This isn’t a story book, but a board book (appreciated if you have a kid that tears books apart like a feral cat) that contains several scenes from Daniel Tiger and surrounding the scene are separate pictures of items within it. My daughter (almost 2) likes to look at the scenes and we point to the items and try to get her to say the word and find them on the page. It’s a good book for sitting down to interact together, not so much for a bedtime story. Overall I think it was a good buy and I recommend it!

My 2 year old boy loves Daniel Tiger and loves this book! He would have loved it even more if it were available when he was younger too. It’s the perfect size for babies and toddlers hands, with thick pages so they can not rip it!

Purchased for my 16-month old autistic child who LOVES Daniel Tiger. The construction/binding can handle a lot of activity and the illustrations are great. There are many basic words and a few advanced that we skipped over like stethoscope, tongue depressor, maracas and saxophone. Recommend purchasing if you have a DT fan.

This book has a nice selection of words, that your child will actually recognize from real life, or Daniel Tiger. This book has quickly become my two year old's favorite book to "read" to me.

My twin grandsons absolutely love this book. They love repeating the names of the pictures and they have learned so much. Highly recommend.

My 9 month old granddaughter just loves Daniel Tiger and this book. It is very study and withstands a fair amount of abuse. Colorful and loaded with pictures and words for little ones to learn and enjoy.
